Description

In the Collection of Entomology of the National Museum the Natural History (CSIC), insects and morphological structures of these are preserved. The specimens are preserved in dried, in alcohol and in microscopic preparations. The collection also stored vegetable samples preserved in dried and in alcohol, a well as elements associated to insects: nests, ootheci, lays, etc. A fund of 2 millions of specimens are already included in the systematic collections and a similar number is waiting for its next incorporation to the collections. The collection had it origin in 1771. The specimens of the collection have been deteminated by hundred of the entomologists since more than 200 years.

The collection was established in 1771 and ceased acquisitions in 12-06-2012.
